Entrepreneur Linda Dunn: practice, project, & perfect your pitch

Creating, perfecting, and pitching your venture is a challenging process that veteran marketer Lisa Spradley Dunn knows all too well, having pitched her business for over 20 years. Dunn wants to share her expertise with you and is offering $25K of her company’s capital to Black women entrepreneurs.

Starting next week Dunn, the CEO of Odyssey Media, will offer three 40-minute video workshops that help women of color perfect their pitch.

In an interview with ESSENCE magazine, Dunn revealed,

“I have been talking with other Black women and Latina sisters and access to capital is a huge problem. After examining the problem, talking to my audience and people who claim they want to loan to us, I decided to do something about it. I asked lenders, and angel investors ‘What is the issue?’ What I found out is there’s not enough training on how to pitch, and how to pull stuff together for the bank. Nobody trains you on how to do it. So I decided to take $25K of my own company’s money and put my money where my mouth is."

The Keys to Success' digital workshops has aired this week, 8 p.m. EDT each night, and offers tips and tools for growing entrepreneurs.

Alongside its digital education series, Dunn's Odyssey Media is holding a contest t0 receive exposure and career coaching. Three finalists will get the chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Amelia Island, FL, as well as a chance to pitch their business ideas for a chance to win $25K for their business.
